The N/A 2.2 in my '90 Legacy recently died thanks to a loose crankshaft pulley and thus a chewed crank. I'm pondering putting in a turbo motor from Japan. Besides the obvious exhaust and ECU difference, are there any other issues with putting a turbo engine in place of a N/A one? Like, will the drivetrain handle it? I have an automatic that hasn't given me any troubles, despite all the negative I've heard about how fragile they are. This car is a daily driver that has had over 60,000 miles put on it in the last 2 years. Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.

N/A to Turbo engine swap

The drivetrain should take it easily I have a modified EJ22t in my '95 Impreza at about 250 hp and have had no problems with the drive train at all despite my obsession with going after WRX's and things of that sort. I do have a light flywheel and ACT clutch but am using a stock 2.5RS disk with a 3:10 diff.

I had a similar question so i'll just ask here. I have 90 Legacy, auto,FWD, N/A. I got a EJ22T + Tranny (5-SP, AWD) from a junkyard with 60,000 miles. Was thinking about swapping it with my N/A with 153,000 miles but i'm unsure if it is worth it. My main concern is FWD=>AWD conversion and then the Auto => 5-SP conversion. What would i need to do all of this? I know I need crossmember, ECU, and wirng harness. Is it just a better idea to buy another car to do the swap? One with AWD. Thanks.
