torquechip?

would the torquechip help in my high CR n/a motor build.

this is the project i am contemplating for the winter:

Phase II SOHC ej25 shortblock w/dualport ej22heads. estimated CR of around 11.5:1.

there are a few that have done this w/out any fuel ecu mods but i would like this to last a while under hard use so if this 250 unit does the job that would be awesome. or would i need a better pump and FPR too? this project would almost max out the stock injectors. almost but not totally.

Re: TorqueChip for N/A

As per reading about the TorqueChip V. 2.8, it does state it could be used on a N/A engine, even allowing it to be turbo charged. I think its important to specify with them though.

thats how it looked to me too.

but it just looks to easy to be exactly what i need.

car tuning is supposed to be a rats nest of wires and piggybacked computers or 1500+ stand alone engine management systems.

Shoot Al and email. He's actually on this board.

I stopped and talked with him while I was in Denver a couple summer's ago.

He used to work with the guys at PDM. He's not associated with PDM, and their crack ass ways of dealing with people. I know of one instance he helped a friend of mine out to get his parts from Joel @ PDM.

Anyway, they were testing/dynoing a turbo kit they installed. He was datalogging, and from what he told me they killed the motor. From the info they got back, timing advance was to blame.

The way I see it, for anyone who turbo's a N/A motor, there are two big things you need to take into consideration. Fuel & timing. Fuel must be increased, and timing must be decreased as boost increases.

Al setup the torque chip to basically hold timing advance around 20 degrees or something like that. I don't remember the specific number off the top of my head. I also believe the chip has a voltage clamp to increase fueling.

Anyway.....shoot Al an email or phone call and tell him your setup and ask him if his chip would solve some of your issues, and how exactly to hook it up.
