Clutch fork return spring

Post by Legacy777 »

Where exactly does this spring hook onto? I know it hooks onto the fork....but where does it hook onto for the other side?

TIA

There is a small tab on the tranny close to the engine. it pulls the clutch fork away from the slave cylinder.

anyone got a picture by chance?

I didn't see anything, which is why I asked. I can look around again tonight.

I think the tab MK's talking about is actually a small separate part that's bolted to the transmission case.

I don't really understand the purpose of this little spring. It doesn't seem to be an actual clutch return spring, because it's pulling the wrong way. It almost seems like it was put there just to reduce clutch pedal effort slightly. But it's such a weak spring that I can't imagine it making a noticeable difference.

See.....I took a look at things and got confused.....I was like....wait it's pulling the wrong way.

I found a little place to hook it on the bracket where the connectors for the IAC, TPS & knock sensor are all on. I know there is a bolt that was screwed down in the top of the tranny of the cable clutch. Not sure if it's used on the hydraulic setup or not.

If I don't find anywhere else to hook the spring, I'll just hook it on that piece I mentioned.

As for what the spring does....only thing I can think of is to keep tension on the fork so it keeps tension on the throwout bearing and such. Other then that....beats me??
