Coffee Mug Mod
So a while back I went to target and bought the mug for the mod. Well, one cold morning I left my coffee cup in my car, and needed a vessel for my morning dose of tea, so cleaned out the dusty mug, and put some tea in it. I fell in love with the mug and have been using it almost daily ever since. Now that I dont have time to do anything ever, I was wondering if anyone had tried the mug mod and had trouble with it, and wanted to sell me theirs?

I broke the blue one that I had installed. Who knew that a 99-cent plastic drinking glass would get brittle when under the hood of my car for a couple thousand miles?
I made this orange one but I'm not using it because I went another route -- I'm now using a 3"-to-2.5" elbow off the MAF sensor and then a short straight piece of 2.5" OD pipe with an IAC bung on it. I scrapped the auxiliary purge system and I'm not using stock boost control, so I don't need the other two fittings. It looks neato.

It's 54 degrees here. It gets down to the low 40's in the morning when I wake up to go to work.
Looks like the elbow you were gonna use for your turbo swap, and the same fitting you had on your BOV plate dealie.
What did the purge canister do, and why is it OK to be without it?

Basically, yes, that's it. I had that elbow from turbo swap preparations, and I had an extra copper elbow from when I made the BOV adapter, and I actually just had the 2.5" tailpipe extender lying around too.
I still have the purge canister -- I just switched to an NA one and scrapped the auxiliary purge valve (the one that goes between the canister and the resonator, that takes a manifold pressure signal from the #1 runner).
To be extra-safe I stuck a check valve in the main purge line, but that shouldn't be necessary. So now my canister will only purge when I'm off boost. That shouldn't be a problem, since I do regularly visit the realm of subatmospheric manifold pressures.

OMG. you guys are geeks.
I need to be doing this mod sometime here, too.. but as I understood it, the mug was PRE-MAF...? But in the pics --its POST-MAF. Where did i misread it?
eh, I don't have time yet, anyhow..

The mug is mainly for the turbo cars and replaces the chamber box thingy

Yeah, it replaces the resonator between the MAF sensor and compressor inlet. You can see the stock setup on morgie's old car here: http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/pics ... ge_tap.jpg

It should flow better than the box. And the big plus is the turbo noise as well as the stock bov should be louder. I love the intake sounds... If you want a good one that just fits MRT makes one. Find a MRT dealer in the states, they won't stock it me thinks but could order it.
