I love the corners........

Post by dscoobydoo »

In Spokane, WA there are quite a few on-ramps and off ramps where the corners are two-three lanes wide and banked. Any idiot can go fast in a straight line, but I LOVE taking the corners to where you drift out of them.

What can I say; I love the subaru(s).

And if anyone says tires do not make a difference needs to come drive with me.

I put the snow tires on, and my grip level just drops. But she drifts quicker and makes a nice squeal through the corner.

I love the fact that the Department of Transportation has developed locations for me to test suspension and tire differences.

If you are up in the area, I highly recommend:

#1. The I-90 (westbound) Sprague ave exit. It is a nice three lane banked 180* exit that ends very quickly. But make sure there is no traffic in front of you.

#2. The Liberty Lake on-ramp headed to Coeur d Alene. This is one very quick 180* turn with a slight bank. Again, no one in front of you is very crucial.

#3. The Liberty lake on-ramp headed to Spokane. This is a full circle banked with a constant radius.

Straight and fast is ok, but when my passenger is plastered against the far window from the G's, NOW THAT IS DRIVING!!!

On Ramp Racing = Bad!

Do I get a point for being the first to reprimand?

ok, I never said I was on-ramp racing.
In fact, on an on-ramp or off-ramp, you are accelerating or decelerating to match the speed on the road you are progressing towards.

I was merely saying that I enjoy those ramps due to the specific curves/banking/lengths that they have.

racing behind/in front of someone is more dangerous than side by side racing. And I don't condone either of those on public roads.

Again, I was just saying that the Trans Dept has blessed this area with some nice curves that I tend to experience at different speeds than the standard motoring public.

I don't know anyone who upgrades the suspension and then does not push those limits further.

I call it R&D. I research what my latest development has produced.

Too clarify = Joking

My favorite "on ramp" in Portland is the Fremont onramp onto the Fremont bridge. I use it as a testing spot for upgrades. Its basically a 1/4 mile plus slightly downhill that starts with a curve. AWESOME.

You take a hard right off a straight street into a left had curve that has concrete dividers on either side for about 150 feet until it opens up and is straigh for about a 1/4 mile at which stage you cross over an exspansion joint which is where the bridge officially starts. We let off the gas at this point.

My best at this point is about 105 max. Currently my setup only allows me about 98. My brother hits about 125-130 best. By the way, that is fucking fast. (He has a 350 wheel hp Jetta).

Whats nice about this onramp is you can just sit there waiting for all traffic to clear, then you have this dual lane onramp to blast off on with no danger to anyone but yourself.

Sorry Douglas,

Did not know you are joking. Too many people on here are WAAAAY too serious, so better to take you straight at the words.

I am sure I know what on-ramp you are talking about.
Normally the big cities have bad on-ramps and too much traffic to enjoy them.

That is one of the reasons I actually like Spokane.

And Boy do I miss Montana's old no daytime speed limits.

Why did he think you were voting for Nader if he thought you were a republican?

I take that back. Political discussions are bad.

I just wish I could've voted for Al Sharpton. The debates would've been funnier, but I shudder to think what the republicans (lower case intended) would've said about why he shouldn't be president. Just needed to say that.
