Every last box? It repeatedly warns that I could delete some important stuff if I don't know what I'm doing...

Okay I did that.

Now the next topic at hand

I have a warning that comes up every time I boot up that says the following:

Error loading C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll

The specified module could not be found.

Here we go again.

No DSL. Hafta use 56k. All necessary lights are lit on both router and modem. Accessed the router at 10.0.0.1, everything is peachy. Cannot access the modem at 192.168.1.254, page cannot be displayed message...

However, I can ping both addresses without losing any packets.

Help!

What?! You mean the tech support script of what to tell the customer to do is actually right sometimes?! :D

That's weird that it would respond to pings but otherwise not work.

That's what I said. It was weird that it would respond to pinging, but I couldn't reach its IP address.

I didn't think the power-cycling would actually work, but it did...

The wild tangent thing is adware crap. If you search on google for that dll, you should be able to find some info regarding it, and how to remove it. If you can't find anything, let me know.

There is a website called www.wildtanget.com but I didn't find anything about removing stuff on that site.

I did however run HiJack again and found something WildTangent related in the list so I fixed it.

No more message :)

Okay, more weird stuff with my little DSL network.

I was having bad problems trying to get IE and AIM to work tonight. Sometimes they would work fine, other times the page would not load and AIM would sign off and refuse to sign back on.

I tried power-cycling the modem, that worked okay for a while, then it came back, so I tried power-cycling the router, didn't fix it.

I pinged both the modem and router, and they both receive all packets.

Any ideas?

If pinging the modem works fine, the problem is most likely not on your end (unless it's in the wiring between the modem and the wall). Your ISP may have been having some issues. You might want to contact them.

It's not doing it at all today, should I consider it a glitch on my ISP's end and not worry about it?

My AIM is still cutting out every so often though, only in idle periods...

You might still want to ask/tell them about it, just to see if it was a problem they knew about it or to let them know to watch out.

The AIM dropping thing could be due to any router along the path... I know my parents' router drops connections of mine that stay idle too long.

Is there an option in the AIM prefences to enable some kind of "keepalive" functionality?

on aim you can set it to never turn idle, as well as wait 2 minutes before signing you out if you DO get connected, just in case your pc dies(and reboots within 2 minutes) or connection momentarily drops

Okay, something that is really stumping me, it may or may not be Internet-related.

There are two particular songs that I'm trying to download off WinMX. And even though there are literally thousands of different users with that particular song for me to download from, the song will not even begin to download. It just says "waiting for network reply" until it times out. I can be trying literally 20 different users at the same time and it's the same thing for all of them. If I try any other song, I won't have a problem.

Maybe there's somethign wrong with winmx and those two songs.

Are you going to be on AIM tonight? If not that's fine, just curious.

Okay, I can't deal with this anymore.

My connection is getting more and more unstable. My AIM is signing off and on again, like it usually does, but sometimes as often as every 30 seconds.

This is important though: When AIM is getting ready to sign off, I cannot load a webpage. All my lights on both modem and router are properly lit up, but the Internet lights are not blinking like they should be when information is being transmitted. It's like the network doesn't even know I'm trying to do something. Once the AIM signs back on though, it works fine.

I cannot view eBay auctions and I don't know why. I can do anything in eBay I want: search, leave feedback, look through My eBay, whatever, but I cannot actually view an auction.

I know my NAV 8.1 is a little old, but it found no viruses. I just ran an adware/spyware check and cleared all that out.

I've run out of ideas and I'm tired of dealing with it. Computer geeks of the world unite! :)

Does it tell you that your browser settings are preventing you from redirecting? If so, you may need to turn down your security settings or get the latest service pack upgrade or ActiveX update.
