No I'm not worried about China, lol, I'm in the Infantry in Iraq. :) I was not joking about getting shot at by AK's.

No the Beta's are not all that heavy and the weight is well balanced. I notice the smaller weight of my tac light and infared laser more because they mount on the front of the handguard.

Thanks skid, the support we get over here from people back home is awsome. I went home on leave and there were people in Maine (first stop in the US) up at 5:00am to greet us. I have so many cookies and snacks for the holidays I don't know what to do with them.

Please explain to me why americans love guns so much, It freaks me out.

Ak-47 and the such should never have been created.

Anyway, i guess i'll never understand, maybe i just don't like scaring the shit out of people by killing them if they don't think like i do

I'll stop there...

Guns are created because of wars not because Americans like them.

And contrary to the now popular belief, wars were around before the evil Americans came along.

I like guns because:

A) They are neat
B) Able to protect myself at any time
C) When I put bullets in them they go boom
D) It occupies my spare time and betters me in some way

I like guns because I don't like people. Of course, my fantasy job would be to be a hitman for a large criminal organization (but not a government), so I think my reasons are probably my own.

I like guns because I enjoy the marksmanship aspect. It takes a lot of skill and control over your body to be accurate at long distances or hitting moving targets. It is a hobby where you can constantly challenge yourself to get better but not have to actively participate in any competitions. I also know a lot of people that depend on the meat they can put up in their freezer during hunting season to help them get through the winter. It is a way of life and guns are also a simple neccisity for living on a farm or in the country. Like I said before, I believe a lot of people's reasons for guns depends on regional location. But then again, some are just like Steve and don't care for other people, one of friend's who own's an AK is this way and he compliments his AK with a 12ga and a nice semi .22 pistol :). And besides, soo many good bumper stickers result from the legality of guns... "I still miss my ex, but my aim is improving".

Marksmanship is a tough skill to master i agree, but i'm sure that 80% of the poeple who owns a gun don't bother much about it. Its the cheap power trip they crave

I own a gun, im not scared of it, im scared of no-life assholes who uses them against poeple that have the right to stay alive.

R.I.P dimebag, and please guys, don't talk about guns like toys

This is why I dont like guns. I think people should ditch guns and go back to swords. Nobody accidentaly takes someone elses head off with a sword.

thats pretty sad, I'm big enough to protect myself without a gun, chances are if someone with a gun came up to you and was going to use it they would before you even had a chance to go get yours.

i reckon you guys should give a gun to george "warmonger" bush to go fight his own battle, get his head cut off by a masked iraqi and look for his own weapons of mass destruction (which now don't seem to exist).

woah...

a) Lets not bring politics into this. My president, whom I proudly voted for, has nothing to do with my desire to own guns. Also his actions in Iraq have nothing to do with the thread either, let's just let it sit at everyone has different view points.
b) I know men who carry handguns and I promise you that they would have an assulant on the ground dead before you had a chance to realize what was happening. And whether your country has areas such as this or not I don't know but there are definately little residential areas in the mountains I would not go to unless I was strapped.
c) Let's just also leave out the name calling, no need for it. I know a lot of people that see spending absurd amounts of money and time on a 15 year old car as being signs of true stupidity.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. We're here to share ideas, lets keep this discusion constructive.

Hey Jr. I'm 6'3, I don't have a problem with protecting myself. However when I'm sleeping and an intruder breaks in who happens to have a gun, what your you rather have? A shotgun or "your big bad self". Personally I'd rather have the gun. It's just stupid to think otherwise.

ahh, the mass medias power to perpetuate fear. Nobody is gonna come wandering into my house with a gun. I'll bet 20$ on it. If someone is in my house, they're after my stuff. They can have it. They're not gonna shoot at me if i'm quietly leaving out the back door. They're sure as hell gonna shoot me if im shooting at them.

The men cutting off the heads of people in Iraq are not Iraqi's. They are terrorists from other countries.

We have found some WMD's and some evidence of a WMD program.

I think people who use inflamitory comments instead of facts in a conversation are pussies.

 . Within 3 months 4 people in our subdivison have had their garages broken into. I have cause to be a little weary of the people that lurk in the shadows. I'd rather have a gun to defend myself and take my chances shooting back at eachother then to lay down and take a bullet like a pussy.

BTW: Being a coward is the worst idea ever. What if he decides to take your property and then go after your wife or GF or kids? Are you just going to sneek out the back door quiety?

Personally, i don't live in the garage. They're after your stuff, not you, they'll avoid you if at all possible. But hey, i encourage you to go run in and threaten them with a gun, rambo.

Who would you shoot; some guy you never knew was there, or the one pointing a gun at your head?

When i was about 12, we were broken into. I was awake, heard it all in the next room, and hid in bed. I was fine, our tv, guitares, and reciever were gone. Insurance paid it off, i don't remember that stuff. My dad, on the other hand, is irreplacable.
