Anxiety...

Post by BAC5.2 »

In the past few weeks, there has been a lot of shit going on in my life. Most of you know about my school/job situation, and that's a large contributor, but lately, I'll have a feeling of a lot of anxiety. I don't know why, or what I am anxious about, but I am and it bothers me.

I get an idea, get really excited about it, lose focus, then get depressed. Then eventually I'll get back up to 'normal'.

I feel like I need something. Like something just isn't right. I don't know what it is, and I don't know how to fix it. I feel like something is missing in my life, and I don't know what it is.

I don't know why I posted this, I think I just needed to vent how I am feeling. Sorry for taking you alls time.

I will probably pick up a turbo diesel VW in the future. Since my parents won't let me get a bike for commuting purposes, I need something that gets better than 15mpg. Reguardless, I doubt another Subaru would cure me. It'd just empty my pockets even further.

Welcome to my life on a daily basis. It's a trip. I found that blowing things away with my gun it quite soothing, and so is working out.

Bah on the turbo VW. At least its a turbo tho, and diesel is cheaper than prem. unleaded anyday.

Just keep your chin up. Your still young, your parents still support you (sounds like your livin with them still) and there's still alot to live for.

Find a hobby that will keep you occupied. Get Everquest or WoWorcraft or something to tie up all your time. Makes you forget about real life bullshit.

I can totally relate to what you're saying Phil. Anxiety sucks because usually it takes time to work out and there's often not much you can do about it. For me personally, it usually starts with something I have been hoping for that doesn't work out or doesn't work out the way you wanted it too. I have had bad days where it's all I can do to keep from getting in my car and disappearing for a while. I think that it's usually built up stress that starts to find a crack in your mind and works at you until your bothered. Most of the time a change of pace helps work out the kinks. You just have to figure out what it is and then go to the gym and beat up a heavy bag while you think about it. Man, I wish I could do that sometimes. Anyway, don't let it get you down. It passes without doing that but it's a lot more fun to work it out, plus you get a health benefit from working out. That's my 2 cents.

sounds like what you need is a vacation. the kind where you do nothing, lay around in warm weather with no plans and no agenda, and let random things just happen.

A few years ago after I got divorced I took a couple of these, last minute Southwest flights, light pack, cheap hotels. Never spent much money and ended up having a lot of fun. I once stayed in a house in Key West that normally rented for $3000 a week but someone backed out and I paid peanuts. Randon good sh!t always seems to happen when I just stumble around with no plan

Yeah, a vacation is a good thing too. Especially on some desert island or some other warm place.

It's normal to have some anxiety. Just keep it in check, work on it. Most people have been there at some point in thier life. Don't let it get out of hand, talk to a pro if it gets worse.
Try to stay busy, working out is a great idea, booze IS NOT. Talking about it is also good and helping someone who is down is never a waste of time, for me at least.

Too true! Talking always helps, especially with friends. They don't even have to be 'real' friends. You guys make great sounding boards, and I've never met any of you! Although, Phil, at least, can talk to some of you, as you're kinda out his way...
Everything will be fine, Phil. You're a bright guy with things going for you. Maybe someone gave you a lecture to make you feel like this? Just because YOUR life is not turning out how someone else wanted it to, doesn't mean it's not turning out the way it was meant to be. Everything happens for a reason, trust me.

I actually am going on vacation this winter. 2 vacations actually.

On the 25th, my family and I are going to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Then on the 8th of January, right after we get back, I'm going to Montana for 10 days.

I think I am going to change my oil. I haven't done that in like 3500 miles :(

I also need to change my oil, ive felt a little down and out about my car as of late, havn't been giving her the attention she deserves. Don't worry Phil, it'll pass. I felt exactly how you feel a while ago, couldn't figure out what was wrong, or what I thought I was missing out on, I think I just gave up trying to figure it out, that and I gave up on putting effort into finding a girlfriend. It might be one of those feelings that you feel like your missing out on something when your really not. Be happy, your car is as fast as an STi  .

I will soon be quitting my job, a MAJOR contributor to my stress. I will then have some time to do some maintainence on my car and fix my dad's car and our tractor before we go on vacation.

I desperately need to fix my exhaust and turbo.

Yes Laurel, more porn. You need to get done with exams so you can be online more!

What you NEED Phil. . . is to come out to Washington, stay at our place, and go snowboarding with me.

NOTHING calms me more than hitting the slopes and forgetting about the rest of the world.

Well. . . that and getting laid. . .

Anyway, what you're experiencing is TOTALLY normal. Just knowing that you're not "weird" sometimes helps with the anxiety. Okay, well. . . you ARE weird. . . but not in a sense that's bad.

You're young. . . you've yet to figure out all the ways to manage stress and anxiety. Either way. . . don't get down on yourself for feeling it. It's human nature, and you're simply reacting to something. The hard part may just be determining exactly what it is you're reacting to.

Thanks Art! I might take you up on that offer sometime, if that's alright. Might not be this winter, but sometime.

I quit my job today, and I feel GREAT now!

Things are getting better I think. It's getting colder, and I can smell the snow wanting to fall! It's all gonna be great :).

Always welcome, just say the word. :D

Sweet. . . if your job was a big source of stress, I'm sure that's going to help a lot!
