Eastbaysubaru and I found something very cool at the junkyard this weekend on a legacy..... Ill wait for him to post it though.

Here is a hint, its plug and play (subaru OEM) and lives in the little pocket below the rear defroster and cruise buttons. Found it on a 90 subaru 4wd sedan manufactured in feb of 89.

I'm sure it's not THAT big of a deal, but it was super cool nonetheless. It's a fog-light button with all of the associated wiring. It's got a harness that you just plug into the factory harness and a relay that grounds on the steering column. I'm sure there're other cars that came with it, but I have yet to see one. The best part is that it was only $5.

It looks as if this entire "kit" could be purchased from the dealer, similar to adding the keyless entry to vehicles. If anyone can find the part number for the kit that would be super cool.

hmmm.....I'll have to take a look at my parts book this evening.

Does it take the place of the pocket?

Yup. And coincidentally enough, my car had some retarded dealer installed alarm which used one of the buttons where that pocket is supposed to be. The other is just a blank plate.

What junk yard did you go to? I live in Hayward, so I go to the locals ones alot (E&J and Dorris mostly), but they only have a few Legacys, and none have parts I want. Im specifically looking for the CD player though, so let me know if you spot one :D

You're going to have a hard time finding stereo stuff that still works in the junkyards. The best bet would be to look on eBay.
