Those bolts are a pain! I found them at an independent auto parts place. They're a weird pitch, like 1.25 or something. 1.0 and 1.5 I remember weree easy to find. I forget the diameter, too, maybe 10mm?

Yeah, they are 10mmx1.25 pitch, Lowe's didn't carry them at all...and the local parts place only had them 2" long which didn't clear the stands mounts. I picked up some 6" ones today from the techs at Mastro! :D Should be on the stand tonight!

See it is a new water pump! :D Looks like the oil pump has been serviced...cam seals are new too!

cover off...rear main looks good, little bit of seepage from those two plates.

I wonder if you could extrude hone the water passages or something to clear that out. Looks like rust.

Are the coolant passages lines with steel or something? Aluminum doesn't rust that way.

There are steel bolt heads and such in the passages. You can see a couple in the holes if you remove the upper water jacket. There are also the two caps at the bottom of the block for additional coolant draining.

...and many of the coolant "pipes" going around the motor are steel...and they are very corroded inside. I'm pretty sure the orange in the block & heads is just stains that occured from them corroding. The water that came out of the engine was orange too! :oops: You would think when the previous owner replaced the water pump....that they would actually put coolant in it! :roll:

Hot tank the block and that should clean things up.
