My original idea was to use a modified shift light curcuit to control when the shift occurs and locking/unlocking the TC. There was a long discussion on NASIOC about a TC controller that would do this.

There is alot of stress in the drivetrain from the instant shifts but its more directed at the output of the transmission and the engine. Without a flywheel the engine can be spun down VERY fast. The cars that have used other aftermarket transmission control of similar type usually twist half shafts rather than internal transmission damage.

I was going to use the shift lever for control with the simple design, and it would be possible to move up 2 gears at a time.

I dont see a problem with all the stress going through the clutch packs, normally it does this already except it constantly slips them! They will probably last LONGER this way.

I was thinking about the whole clutch pedal as a lock unlock thing. How would you get it to register as a switch? How would you get the pedal to make resistance so you don't just slap it down when you touch it or it doesnt just stay down?

I hate to revive really, really old topics... but I'm really interested in this. What's going on with it? Is this project scrapped?

I'd be really interested in doing a home-made semi-manual conversion. It's all electronics, so...

Anyway, yeah. What's up, ciper?

He hasn't been around for quite some time, i'm afraid..
It's kinda unclear to me about what he's trying to do, as well, but it sounds like something fun.
