You swear like the car looks like complete shit. This isn't the first time a grill has been changed. Subarus "loyal" owners aren't that loyal if they'll give up just because they redesigned a car. Anyway, get back on aim. :)

I, personally, like the new look. It is a bit more aggresive looking.

Otherwise they're going to lose most, if not all, of their loyal owners, including me.
The only problem with that is that they were ahead of the times. The name plate of Subaru has begun to reflect performance in the public's eyes. The new Imp is moving with the rest of the automakers. Many of them are going with bigger grills and such. The Tribeca really doesn't look to bad in person. Pictures generally don't do justice. You have to see it in person to appreciate it.

Loyal owners do not run away from grill changes. Maybe, if they changed from the Boxer motor or something drastic like that. But true, loyal customers will continue to stick with it.

Also, IMHO, the above mentioned vehicles weren't flops. They were interim vehicles. Basically test beds. Subaru has a history of this type of vehicle. The '83 & '84 turbo's were tests for the EA series turbo's. As a matter of fact most of the basic set ups are still retained today. The XT/6 was one of the best designed areodymanic vehicles built. The XT6 was a test for the 3.3l and 3.0l motors. The SVX's downfall was the limited amount of options. Basically, it had all the options with no basics(like a manual trans).

The new design changes will undoubtedly by refined a bit by the manufacturer or aftermarket.

I've seen the Tribeca in person, I've walked around it, sat in it, played with the controls, did everything but drive it, and I don't like it.

Subaru wants that car to be a Nissan Murano so bad...

And the grill is still ugly in person.

no, YOU THINK it looks like complete shit. there is a huge difference. you can think it looks like shit all you want. its just a car. no one is making you buy it. it doesnt change the value or quality of the subarus you allready own. were you going to be buying a new impreza in the next two years? cuz if you werent you arent really the target market for this car.

you know what, the more others hate on it the more i like it.

and there is only so much a designer can do w/the basic styling/packaging of a small SUV.

Well I know the 3.3, but didn't know the 3.0. Why would they do that? and when did they do that?

I think the new design would be good without the alfa looking grill...Like if they took that round thing out of the center section of the grill and make it look more like a BC Legacy, with the narrow, long grill, I think the car would look tits and a half!!
