I found an Abandoned 91 Turbo Legacy

Post by c150cglzp »

Hi there,

I just joined this group because I love 90-94 Legacy Sedans. Anyways,
I own two 93 N/A Legacy (auto) sedans and one 90 Layale wagon. I've
been wanting a 91-94 Turbo legacy (standard) for a while. As I was
driving through a subdivision one day I spotted one in the bushes near
a house, very neglected. So I stopped and took a look. The tires are
deflated and the front fenders are in rough shape but the rest looks
decent. The odometer shows 148 000 Km, and the interior looks good.
Where I live (Ottawa Canada)there arn't many of these, actually their
pretty rare. I really want one. I'm wonderering what could of been the
most likely cause for it to have been parked and neglected, and if I
do go after it , how much is it worth?

Thanks,
Mark

I found an Abandoned 91 Turbo Legacy

Post by Sam & Beth Barrett »

Depends on what's wrong with it. If all it needs is some air, some gaskets,
an oil change, and a new starter, or alternator, or clutch, or whatever...
All of that has a factor on the price. Hell, maybe the guy will pay you to
take it out of there!

Just like buying a house - if you aren't the fix it up type, and you are
buying a fix'er up'er - you aren't going to enjoy owning it, or you are
going to part with more of your wallet than you thought you were going to at
the out set.

I found an Abandoned 91 Turbo Legacy

Post by c150cglzp »

I talked to the owner yesterday, he doesn't mind getting rid of it.
Mechanically he says its fine. It was parked because he needed a
bigger car for his family. The two front fenders need replacing and a
fair bit of body work will have to be done. Paint is also needed.
Underneath it looks pretty clean. I hope to do most myself. What
should I pay for it? Is 1500 reasonable?

Thanks,
Mark
