spontaneous radio wiring harness combustion

Post by devin kundla »

i don't know what the hell happened, but the radio quit and smoke started pouring out of it when i left the movie theatre to come home tonight... grrr... ends up the 12V on wire on my wiring harness to the radio melted... :(((

on the plus side, sum of all fears was an excellent movie!

does anyone know if this is fixable without getting a new harness? or does anyone have an extra one i could buy??? :)

devin

Is this stock radio, or aftermarket?

I've never heard of a stock one frying but I guess it's possible. If it is stock.....good time to upgrade to aftermarket :)

If it's an aftermarket radio, then I would look at the wiring and see if there wasn't a fuse in-line for the 12v constant source.

If you can't find anything wrong.....it prob just fried.......there's a chance it might still work....but prob not.....

A spare radio or wiring harness? I have both; which one would you like?
Contact me off-list.
