error code #49

I'm getting an error code of 49 on my 91 turbo legacy. 49 is the air
flow sensor witch was just replaced with a new subaru unit. Could it
have gone bad already? I'm using the stock intake box with a K&N. any
ideas?

just checking.... did you clear the ecu code and check it was cleared after installing the new AFM?
