gearbox issues???

Post by georgerbyrne »

Ok guys i need help on this one!

second gear is locked out, and i mean locked out!

It is stiff to get into first and second won't even get past the
sorta nuetral section.

I am assuming the selector fork is bent.....??

All other gears are fine, and there is no clunking in the box
whatsoever?????

So what do you all think?
the box is a WRX (possibly sti) 4:44 ratio, with less than 100,000km

Thanks, George.

Yep not many other things it could be, the end of the finger on the
selector fork is probably broken by the sounds of that.

gearbox issues???

Yeah a mate had a similar problem a while ago. So after exams i'll
just have to pull the motor and box and split it open. I still have
the selector forks from my old gearbox, so hopefully i can just drop
one of them in and stick it back together!

Are there any distinguishing features of the internals of an STI
gearbox that i would notice that could confirm whether it is or is
not an STI box?
Thanks, George.

You have to be careful, as the selector forks have different offsets.
The location on the pin is what determines this. If you need help
please contact me.
