I am very poor right now, but have discovered that the '90 Legacy I
have, has never had any real brake or suspension work in 293,000
miles. I recently purchased SS brake line, and new pads and found the
calipers are so bad off they need addressed immediately. Is
rebuilding the calipers worth the time? If not where can I buy
rebuilt calipers (I would upgrade everything if money was not an
issue) and how much are they? My rotors look OK, at least for now, so
I will address them later.
Any suggestions will help.

Worn out calipers
Alex,
I'm in the process of upgrading the brakes all the way around on my legacy. There's a possibility I could sell you my calipers, not sure yet. They are in good shape.
As far as your calipers, how are they worn? Do they not slide freely, are they leaky, boots torn. If they're not leaking, you should be able to clean them up and regrease everything and get them back in working order. This is assuming you can get the calipers apart from the mounting bracket.
If the seals are leaking, you can probably find a rebuild kit with new boots and new seals for like 10 bucks or something.

Worn out calipers
Josh- They do not move very freely, but they move. The boots look intact,
albeit stiff with small cracks. I didn't notice any actual leaking, but I
am suspecting when I release the brake the piston is not retracting all the
way. I can swear I can hear the pad softly rubbing after a hard stop.
Thanks for the help- I might try rebuilding them, since I've never done it
before, and it seems pretty cheap to do.

Worn out calipers
disc brake calipers don't move back all the way, you will get the pad slightly rubbing. From what you described.....it just sounds like you need to take the caliper off, clean everything up real good, and lube/grease the shit out of everything and you should be fine. If you're not leaking any fluid.....really no need to bother rebuilding or anything, as it doesn't really give you anything other then the boots and seals for the pistons.
