Grant Hughes predictions of SOA abandonment of the H6 has a sad bunch of history to back it up. Sometimes something too far ahead of it's time, especially if not from GM or Hondayota, just won't attract enough consumers to make it worth keeping around if they're not bombarded continuously.
But it's the POTENTIAL that I hope somebody is interested in exploring just for the beauty of it I would like to know about.
At less than an inch longer than the EJ22, Somebody radical will do an engine swap and add some serious boost for wild HP numbers.
It's just so much easier when the factory has done the turbo conversion up front.
I think the Subaru ad agency needs some help or fresh blood or something. Stuff like this needs some bigtime pushing, not just thrown in the deal for people who were looking at buying a Suby anyway. Other companies are starting to make mini-SUVs to get some of that Outback market. Hondayota could wipe it out.

Turbo H6 Potential is there for somebody
I find it no wonder that they are cancelling it, or thinking about it. I
heard my first ones a few weeks back at the dealership while dropping off
some aftermarket parts they had ordered for customers (yes, a cool
dealership!).
Heard a nasty noise come from the front, and immediately asked what it was -
oh, just timing chain noise, they all dop it was the response! Grim if you
ask me! Seems the new H6 has little in comparison with the older gen ones I
guess.
As for the rumor mill, I have heard the Legacy GT turbo will be the 2.5 Turbo
motor being offered in Australia next year

I don't think they'll wipe out the H6 models. It's
been a big success for them. How else could they sell
an Outback for 33K MSRP. Plus people are on a big
power thirsty drive these days. I love it when a
service customer comes in complaining about 15 miles
per gallon on 91 octane gas.
I wish they would use a 2.5 turbo for the GT turbo.
The only issue I see is if they can get it to pass
California emissions. At a little over 200,000 new
cars a year they can't afford to make Calspec cars
like other companies do.
Sales have been on a six or seven month decline due to
economy and I think the introduction of newer improved
versions of the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV. They've
for sure affected Subaru some. Subaru should do some
radical things like more turbo cars and get the US
market to think the same thing about Subaru that the
rest of the world does. Fast, agile, awesome handling
vehicles, instead of the Crocodile Dundee Paul Hogan.
