On something like the Hallman manual boost controller... can you adjust it so you will have a preset boost level (like say 11 psi) and then set it to "off" (stock boost solenoid controls). My understanding is that these boost controllers bleed off some air fooling the solenoid or something like that. So can you set one of these things to bleed nothing and let the ecu control boost.
I want to be able to up my boost without buying a $300+ electronic boost controller. I do not want a manual boost controller set at something high that kills my gas mileage and gives full boost under partial throttle. If this on/off idea works, I would use the controller for short periods of higher boost (sort of like a scramble setting) like at the track or high speed runs. After my intercooler is installed of course (Step 1. Battery relocation almost done....)

The Hallman boost controller is a ball-and-spring valve, not a bleed valve. It blocks air pressure until the preset limit is exceeded and then allows pressure through to the wastegate. You could put it in series with the stock boost control and then replace it with an elbow vacuum fitting to return to stock boost control.
