1994 Turbo Wagon [Auto]

Post by bignose »

Hi,

The ole car has 443000km's on it. I know the fluid in the tranny/diff's is likly getting pretty tired.

I want to replace said fluids, any adivce as to what brands I should use, issues to look out for, gotcha's etc. ?

I'm leaning towards mobil 1, only because a relative can get me good prices.

THanks.

For around 80$ you can get the system "flushed" with about 20 quarts of fluid using a very simply machine at jiffy lube. Imagine a long pipe with a hockey puck inside seperating the top from the bottom. Above the puck is 20 quarts of fluid and this end of the pipe is connected to the input. Below the puck is where the old fluid fills up. As the vehicle runs it constatly dilutes the old fluid until nearly all the old fluid has been removed.

What would happen if you were to disconnect the hose from the outlet of the ATF cooler and stick it into a bucket of fresh ATF, and connect another hose from the cooler outlet into a waste bucket? Would you be able to flush out the old fluid that way if you ran it for a little while in each of the gear ranges?

people have talked about that, and it is feasible.....I just think it's a little risky and most likely quite messy
