Hey guys! I've found a '91 Legacy Turbo AWD that I'm thinking of picking up but it has some tranny issues and wanted to get any advice before I jump in.
The car's transmission shifts freely in 1st & 2nd gear but will not upshift into 3rd or 4th. Has anyone had an issue similar to this? Is there some routine maitenance that I can do that may clear this up? My local dealer has recomended (based on the description of the problem, they havn't yet seen the car) that I consider a remanufactured transmission with a 2-year warranty to the tune of around $1700-$2000 !! Should I consider this or try and find a used tranny? Any advice will be appriciated!

No one else? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.Will a standard Legacy 4EAT physically bolt into a Legacy turbo? I knoe they are different internally, but I was thinking if they are interchangable I can pick up a standard Legacy 4EAT to get the car on the road until I can sort out the Turbo tranny issues.

yeah as long as you've got the engine and tranny and all that stuff out you might as well go mt
