CVs... Again

Post by Rish »

Hey guys & gals,
Please excuse this potentially stupid question if you will, but are there any other CV type joints on a '90 N/A auto Legacy save for the on four axles? My problem occurs when the car is cold, when power is applied (no matter how moderate). Off the line, everything is usually ok, the clicking comes for a few seconds after the 1-2 shift (which is a little hard at times). It sounds and feels to me like it's coming from under the car, towards the front of the transmission tunnel. Funny thing is that if I'm at or near WOT, the problem rarely, if at all occurs.
Any thoughts on what I'm experiencing here?

Thanks

Rish

PS:- I did do a search :D

Sorry for the late response...

No it doesn't, that's the wierd thing. If and when the clicking occurs, it's only after the 1-2 shift, turning doesn't have any affect.

One thing I have noticed though is that it's a lot more likely to occur if the pavement is dry (if that helps at all).

Thanks

Rish

my advice is dont go with a reman from a local auto house- go down to the dealer and pay the extra money for SOA parts. i had this prob with my bc i put two new axles in and the clicked. kept replacing them saying they were defects. i finaly did get a good reman from a auto house but not after i changed them a bunch of times. went down to the subaru dealer talked to the service mang and he told me that there is a problem sometimes when a third party remans them. he told me go with a SOA part. and i agree with him.

Not all shops are going to be the same. I'm willing to give cvaxles.com a shot since their reputation is very good.

Yup, that's where I got mine from. I'd highly recommend them.
