JDM Legacy engine
what were the turbo engies in the early 90s legacy in japan, 2.0 or 2.2 turbos?
'95 L
2.0's as far as I know. I think the only 2.2 they made was for the 22B (2.2 turbo that is. I don't know if they made any n/a 2.2s)

Tappet is how they call the tiny thing that you see on the top of every valves...
These heads were later changed because they were making a lot of noise when aging, causing problems...

Later Heads had "Buckets", a cylinder under the camshaft pushing directly on the valve (via an hydraulic piece of course)
The Legacy EJ20G was 2.0l Closed Deck .. if your's is open deck, then it's probably from an Impreza (although it's called ej20g) ..
EJ20G designation seems to be as precise a saying "I've got a Car in my driveway" ("humk, nice, but what brand ?") .. hehe
Take a look at this URL, it defines all the early 2.0l subaru engines with their precise configuration.

He's one of the 1.8T guys from NASIOC and has been around there for a long time. He first dropped in here on that thread about EJ22-T and EJ22 and EJ18 heads all being the same. He's currently building a closed deck EJ20G for his Impreza. You can see some of his stuff here:ciper wrote:Kostamojen: I recognize your name yet your post count is very small, where have I seen you before?

More on EJ20G's...
All Imprezas had closed decks until fall of '94 when production for the MY95 started. After that only STi and RA engines stayed closed deck, until fall of '96 for MY97. At that point they were changed to the EJ20K and all were open deck, regardless of STi or not, after that...
When shopping for a clip or engine, get the applied engine code, applied model code, and turbo charger part number to verify what you are getting. You can reference that info here:

I,ve asked the question on the RsLibertyClub Forum of australia, and a great majority of them swap their heads for bucket heads.
You can read it.. ok the topic slipped a bit at the end, but there is some pretty interesting info at the beginning
