Short Shift

Post by BAC5.2 »

Looking for a Short Shifter for my car.

Is the WRX SS kit the only real option for our cars?

What about the Kartboy SS kit for the WRX? Will that bolt up?

I don't wan't to spend THAT much, but I'll spend what I have to.

check out that link. Some people have done a DIY were they shorten the current shifter, in essence decreasing the throw. Do a search also, if you haven't. It has been discussed here a few times, but I don't know which ones fit exactly, or which ones need a little adapting.

I read that link, and assume DLC used the SPT/STi WRX short shifter linkage.

I was just curious if the Kartboy shift linkage and bushings would work for the Turbo cars.

I don't just want to cut the current lever, I want to replace the whole linkage. The Kartboy setup is a good 70 bucks less than the SPT/STi linkage, that's why I asked.

I might just get the COBB Double Adjustable lever, but that doesn't really solve my problem...

Jason, your a better man than me. I didn't feel like doing a search for him and placing those links due to the fact that my cable internet is really snail slow the last few days.

well now that we're so off topic... *cough*locked*cough* ;)

Honestly, I'd love to help out with your project BAC. I was one of the first to plop the STi shifter linkage into my legacy (as a search will attest to). When i purchased mine, there were only a few available on the market. I'd be happy to answer any questions you've got, but quetions like:

"Is the WRX SS kit the only real option for our cars?" and "What about the Kartboy SS kit for the WRX? Will that bolt up?"

can be answered with 5 minute jolts down internet lane. You'll find that nearly anything impreza will bolt up with simple modification, thus they will fit, just not immediately.
