Hey all;
I was driving the other day from a friends house when I heard a thud come from my Driver front Drive Axel two blocks from my house. I got it on a jack stand the day after and my Axel came completely out of the boot. I replaced the Axel and was driving around and all seemed fine. But then the new (refurbished) Axel started clicking. I'm scared that I either got a bad Axel or maybe I screwed something up by driving it for two blocks with a bad Axel. I don't want to screw up this Axel like the other one. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mo

Are you sure it's the new axle clicking and not the old one on the other side?
It's certainly possible to get a bad rebuilt axle, and it's also certainly possible that something tore the boot on the new axle and allowed dirt in or something... Put the car up on a pair of jackstands and take a look.
Hopefully the new axle is still under warranty if it's the one malfunctioning.

I took it th a subaru shop the other day and had them take a look at it. They replaced the axel, took it for a test drive and the ckicking was still there. they said for sure the clicking was comming from the same side of the axel i just replaced. they pulled the axel out and put the rebuilt one back in. they said it could be the trannie ( worst case cenero). i've been driving it for a coupple days and so far i haven't heard anything. I did feel the car pull to the left today when driving under little throttle but only for an instance. I did notice theat when i replaced the axel the links to the diff seemed loose. With the axel pined in you could shake them up and down, very little, but you could. ( and thats on both sides of the diff) i hope thats not a bad sign.
