No cat, straight exhaust

Post by omegax »

IM looking for some suggestions here. I got a 91MT fwd nonturbo. After patching a different part of the exhaust about 3 times now the 4 times ive decided to give up and just replace the whole thing. With the cat in my car does not pass inspection so i could care less whether it is there or not.
After reading numerous posts i hear about exploding mufflers backfires and other things. What is the best way to go about doing a straight exaust without the cat. Also can anyone recomment a muffler that would eliminate some of the noise but still give the car a nice deep tone but not very loud and at the same time handle the extra pressure.

You can go w/ bigger diam pipe, perhaps 2.25 max, Just run it the same path as the stock piping. With mine i added a glasspack in the middle of the car and used some generic muffler. It wasn't too loud, had some rasp to it though.

you can see most of my exhaust here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... 3484#13484

I wouldn't worry about exploding mufflers, it's very very unlikely.
