Remote door opener/ starter MT

I was looking into a remote starter/door opener..
I know that on my model L all the doors open if i push my drivers side lock open... That being said is it possibly to rig up some sort of switch where an remote could open all the doors. Also i wa slooking into getting a remote starter, for a MT.. somewhere I read that it is illegal in some states because of safetey issues of having the car in gear and starting it.. but i dont leave my car in gear anyway... I just hope i can find somewhere in NY to do it for me or if anyone knows how to bypass the clutch that would be a help.

the clutch just has a switch that allows it to start, you can bypass that. you will have a very hard time finding someone that will install a remote starter on a MT... especially if they don't know you.

You really should park your car in gear if it's on a public road. Relying on the parking brake alone is an unnecessary risk.

If you do wire in a remote starter, make sure it is set up to only work if the car is in neutral.

For the door locks, what you need to do is install a door lock actuator in the driver's door. If you position it correctly, when you activate it by remote, it will push the driver's door lock far enough to unlock all the doors.

Depends on where you live on whether you should leave it in gear. On flat ground in Boston I just use the brake as you never know if someone might try pushing your car forward to make extra room to park.

If i park on a hill i usually i always leave it in gear but if im on a level or close to level surface i just leave the brake on.

I heard that, around here i actually had someone tell me, this is america its a free country he can do what he wants....( he decided to put his grand marquis into a spot meant for a geo metro... and he made it... ofcourse my car was wedged up on his front. I was about to show him a free country and smash some headlights

Can the transmission be damaged just like in an automatic if the car is pushed hard enough?

For the door locks, is there any way to use whatever electrical switch that activates all the doors to open to work by remote instead of using a mechanical actuator to push the door lock?

I don't know if the manual can be damaged - it may just try to turn the engine over, but I'd rather not find out.

The transmission shouldn't be hurt by the car being pushed, at least if the push isn't strong enough to cause body damage. The engine will resist it, though, and a long enough push could potentially result in the engine pushing the rest of the way to relieve the compression turning the engine built up. To see what I mean you can stop the engine on a downward slope in a higher gear and observe the car make sort of discrete jumps forwards.

The method I described for the locks does use the existing door lock motors... You can't get around having to add one to the driver's door, though, since there isn't one there from the factory.

i recently installed an astro start it is a starter,keyless entry and full security in my 5mt you have to bypass the clutch switch and as an extra precaution connect it to the e brake so the car will only start when the hand brake is engaged. If you accidently leave your car in gear and push start the car will go about 5 mph untill it hits something this happened to me so make sure you connect it to the e brake.

Yes, there definitely is a neutral switch. It's normally only used by the ECU.
