Could a fuel pump give too much pressure

Post by mhrallyteam »

Ok maybe stupid question but i wonder. I installed an 04 STI fuel pump in my legacy when i did the 91 ej22t swap. Direct fit.

I know the pressure is regulated by the pressure regulator, but would more fuel flow translate in more fuel pressure.

Cuz i know that recent ecu gives different flow rates at the pump, but the legacy ecu gives only one full flow signal. I guess the STI pump flows quite a bit more than the stock legacy unit.

thx

In principle a really powerful pump could overwhelm the fuel pressure regulator, but this one won't. The 04 STi pump is actually pretty close to the stock EJ22T pump. In fact, if I recall right the EJ22T pump is actually a little stronger.
