When you cleared them did they completely go away in R-mode (2 black connectors) ? If they did you should have gotten the all clear which is alternating on off flashing of equel lengths. If it didn't then they didn't clear and you're reading the same old codes. I'd also do a D-check. There are two green connectors down under the driverside dash too. When you hook these together you can go for a drive and get codes for any active problems that may be occuring. You can get directions off of Josh's website on the exact procedure.

throw that haynes away, all the info you'll ever need is either in previous topics here http://bbs.legacycentral.org/search.php on josh's http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru or dave's http://www.legacycentral.org site.

Ya, don't throw it away. It is pretty good for most things. The section on checking the codes isn't very good though.

it's no better than just asking someone what you should do. A waste of 8 bucks IMO

Well, my Haynes actually helped me do pads and rotors on all 4 corners, a timing belt change, crank seal and both cam seal replacement's, replacement of both front axles, a wheel bearing replacement, radiator flush, O2 sensor check, Knock sensor check, well you get the point. Well worth the money IMO. ;)

yeah it's got all that info in there, but the majority of it is inaccurate. Much better info can be found by searching.

I'll agree that there is a lot of incorrect info in the Haynes but when your up to your elbows in grease, oil and engine grime it can be a little inconveniant to get on the copmputer and start searching for info. Plus, even when the info is wrong it's usually close enough to keep you on task. IMO the Haynes did pretty good on almost all my tasks and proved well worth the small amount of money spent.

I agree with Matt... it's not worth much, but it's definitely not worthless. And it's always good to have multiple opinions on how to do something.

Well, keep it handy to look at, but I recommend searching this web site... Several people have written up little quick instructions. Find a few and print them out.
