Auto to manual

Post by 90legasyman »

I have 90 legacy wagon and i have auto. my previous car was, 90 subaru loyal wagon, manual and i miss it cause i had kind of total it. had 3 wrecks on it, my poor driving skill on ice.

anyways, i dont know much about cars and i know that its possible to switch from the auto to manual. Does anyone know how much it cost? cause i would like to do it sometime later whenever i get some money. thanks

The problem is, there is no one answer. There are at least four different manual transmissions that could be swapped in, any number of upgraded or new parts to consider, and labor.

Someone in their backyard, confident in their skill, with time and good tools, could probably do it for less than $1000. On the other hand, i spent over $3000 on my car, and that was without rebuilding the transmission, which could easily add another $1500.

Final answer: It depends.

Mine cost about 2200 not including the transmission. It did include all the parts like crossmember and such. A lot of transmission places wont want anything to do with it tho.
