Pull style clutch on push style trans
I understand the differences in the two styles of clutches, and the forks. What I'm wondering though, is would it be possible to take a push style transmission, and convert it to a pull style. This would almost undoubtly mean custom fabrication of the clutch fork pivot. My idea was, after seeing that the pivot on a pull style goes through the case on the driver side and is stopped at the passangerside, have a hole drilled and tapped to the size and thread of the stock size on the driver side. Then using one of the mounting holes for the push style clutch fork create a stopper/holder for the pull style pivot. if this makes no sense to anyone I can try to explain ti better or get pics or something. Does anyone think this would be possible? Some things I worry about are the angle of the pivot, I'm sure this would have an effect if it wasnt angled correctly. At anyrate, replys would be greatly appreciated.

I would think the spot to drill and tap the hole is there on the transmission. Once you have the mounting done, you'd just want to get a pull style clutch fork, shaft that the fork rides on, plug, and drill/tap the holes for the clutch slave cylinder.
Only other thing I could think of would be if the splines on the main shaft for the transmission are different. I don't think they would be.

it's not there though, what plug do you mean? Another thing I was wondering was, would it be possible to just create a C style holder that held the pull style pivot in place, io guess the main issue there is, how far does the pull pivot extend inside the transmission case, and is there enough clearance in a push style case for this.

I unfortunately don't have good pictures of that area of either transmissions. If you look at this picture, you can see there is the spot where the clutch fork pin sits

It's just not drilled or anything. All you would have to do is drill a hole through the other side and slide that pin in

There is a little hex plug that screws into the transmission to hold that clutch fork pin in place since it does not have threads on it.

Heh, yeah that's what I'm saying
The problem with this idea though (simple drill and tap) is that your old tranny is the only push one i've seen that has the holder for the pull style pin on the pass side of the case. Before now I was almost certain mine did aswell, but then I was talking to Mike and he said he's never seen that before, and that got me wondering if I just imagined all that. I dont feel like dropping the tranny just to find out though. That's why I suggested the other idea of creating a hold type dealie, and just having it bolted to where the push pivot bolts. Hmm, Some machining skills would be nice right about now.
