I will keep you all posted. Oh, full race system with cat bypass pipe for 1500 usd. Cant wait!!!!!! its like christmas only better.

well now it is t-minus 3 days counting today. I should see it monday. Having it delivered to my work. I need to buy 2 more jack stands by then or maybe 2 more ramps so I can get the car high enough to work on it. or maybe just use 2 ramps for the front and 2 jack stands for the rear. That might work.

ok well I left work early today to come home and install this thing. its now 11:26 pm and I just got in from my post install drive. I'm a little torn on how I feel about this exhaust. I'm pleased with the exhaust but I'm not very pleased with the whole car in general at this point. I need to sleep but I'll write up what I had to do on the install and get some photos up tomorrow.

It's worth it. Hands down it's the best exhaust system on the market.

You can't really feel the difference until you reset the ECU on the car. I did the same thing, just drove it right away... and all i did was overboost and the car didn't feel much better. Reset the ECU and whammo! it flew like a rocket. And it would peg full boost immediately and hold it until redline in every gear (except 5th cuz I never made it that high on a public road of course).

I had a manual boost controller already in when I did my exhaust, but I also think I had the battery disconnected. I don't remember now.

I think you'll be very pleased with the exhaust. Your engine is currently extremely restricted by the stock exhaust. Even my stock motor saw a noticeable improvement with the most basic aftermarket downpipe. Your engine will see a great improvement with the best aftermarket turbo-back exhaust.

Kinda off-topic question -- Mike, when you take it apart, do you think you could try to save the donut gasket at the bottom of the downpipe, if it's in okay shape? If you're willing I'd like to buy it off you.

Ya, these systems rock! Reset the ECU, that'll help.

When going with a 3" TBE you will have a noticeable difference while stock but it's when you start throwing other mods at it that it will really show it's teeth. The further you push the car, the more benefit you'll see from the CES kit.

It can be harder to pick up the difference in performance at first when running stock because it really smooths out your torque curve. Since the performance dynamic is changed so much it can be harder to notice. Instead of just having low end torque and power it will now pull hard through the entire gear. Since you don't get that low end hit and then taper in power, it can feel like the car isn't pulling hard like it should but it's actually pulling harder throughout.

What other mods do you have?

ok, well, vrg3 I was looking at the donut gasket thing and it looks like if I seperate the dp from the mid pipe it will crumble into pieces. the car has 120k miles on it and it was a factory exhaust. Why do you want a used one anyway? Are they not available?

legacy92ej22t : I reset the ecu when I got home from work tonight and drove it around a bit and didn't notice any change. I'm going to list my mods in my sig.

As far as the install goes I think I'll start a new thread.

Yeah, my ~120,000-mile-old-one flaked apart when I took my exhaust apart...

A new one is like 30 bucks. If yours came off the car in one piece, I was hoping I'd convince you to send it to me for much much less. ;)

Hehehe... I appreciate the offer, but that won't be necessary. ;)

I'll dig up the money if I have to... it's more than just the money though. I like the idea of using things that would otherwise be going to waste. It's ridiculous how hard cars are on the environment... think about the amount of resources that go into building a car, and then into maintaining it. Recycled/reused auto parts are a wonderful thing.

I wouldn't doubt it's the best bolt on for our cars, however I know i can get a 3in polished stainless, mandral bent for half of that price with high flow cat or test pipe. It does look great though.

I had thought about going that route but it occured to me that some guy in an exhaust shop was just going to bend the pipe so it fit and throw a muffler on the end. I felt more comfortable buying a "proven" and "dyno tested" engineered system. Besides I think the price of the DP was close to 700 dollars alone so why not go the extra and get a matched system. Thats what I thought.
