White Grand National...

Post by BAC5.2 »

I was talking to a guy at work about cars. He's got an 03 SE-R Spec-V and will be pushing 10psi come tax day (I'm gonna do his install).

He was telling me about his "other" car. He said he had a boosted Buick Regal. I automatically assumed, newer gen supercharged Regal. Super sweet rides. He's also got an 87 RX7 that his soon-to-be Ex-Wife drives.

I asked: "Why would you not let your wife drive the newer Regal and keep the miles off of the RX7? Keep it mint!"

He replied: "The Regal is just as old. But it's only got 40,000 miles on it."

Holy crap. He's got a T-Type! More importantly... He has a WHITE T-Type! Goddamn! It's, basically, a White Grand National... but not. And it's MINT. He says there's not a single spot of rust and not a dent on her. That's the car I convinced him to keep through the divorce.

I told him about the under 100 mile GN that sold recently for 80k on E-Bay, and that sealed it!

Man, he was LUCKY on that one. This is the guy who's bought and sold faster cars than people could imagine. He's had an Escalade, sold it. Had a blown mustang, sold it. Now has the RX7, the T-Type, and the soon to be turbo, B15 Sentra. Cool stable IMO.

Just thought I would share!

Damn. . .. I need guys here at work with cool cars. Most of them commute in trucks and little cookie-cutters. :(

Is it a T-Type or a turbo Regal? Most people aren't aware that the standard looking Regal could be had with the 3.8 turbo engine. What a sleeper, but I prefer the T-Type myself.

80k! Was it a GNX?

I guess I am confused, I thought the T-Type was the Turbo Regal?

It is a 3.8L Turbo V6 Buick Regal. It's sweet from what he's been telling me.

Had to be a GNX, they only made 500 I think!

Phil, tell me it was a white T-Type with the gold wheels and I will drool all over the keyboard!

There is a guy that works at a Chevy dealer that turns around in front of my dealer every day. He gets on it slowly, but once he hits the boost, even though the car is already going about 25, he easily lights up the tires and it gives me a stiffy every time! :D

Steve, you might be able to answer this question, the Lesabre T-type pictured here:

Is that a turbo too like the name suggests? I've never heard anyone mention these cars as far as tuning goes...

No its not. They were gonna make a FWD 3.8 turbo but it never happened for whatever reason, so the LeSabre T-Type just has the name. As far as Turbo Regals go, you could get the 3.8turbo in GN's T-Types, Regal Limited's and even regular Regals had the 3.8T as an option. The T-Type name was dropped in 87 and it was just the "T" Also, you could get a "T-Type" and a "T" with the 307 V8, so T-Type doesn't automatically mean Turbo. Only the GN was available with the 3.8T only.

Cool, I never knew that about the 307 T-Types.
