ECU pinouts
I have a 95 Legacy L, I know not a BC or BF. But I need to know if the ECUs are the same in 94 as they are in 95? The wiring diagram I have looks the same, but the wires dont match up. The production date is 10/94. Any help, I already tried ravensblade.com.

A production date that late would be a '95 BD/BG depending on sedan or wagon. Usually auto maker take shut-down in July, August or September at the latest to change models, especially with a big body change-over.
The ECU shows up as a separate part number with any source I can access. The wires not matching up would certainly add credence to that theory.

Greddy Emanage, I have these here
http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/modi ... 22ecu1.jpg
which is for a 97, but shares the same 2.2L engine.
But I still wasnt sure so I bought the online service manual. It looks exactly the same. I also tried calling dealer so I could take a quick peak, they said they cant show me their manuals.
The problem is my ecu doesnt have wires going to the pinouts I need. The wires on the pinout arent there on my ecu location. So I am confused.

Oh wait! You need the pinouts for a 94?
You need to pay more attention to the sticky posts in this forum.

Yeah I saw that way back. My ecu doesnt look like that.

this is what it looks like, but it doesnt match up wire for wire on my ecu.

I can send you pics if you like. I am pretty sure it is North American.
I use the diagram to look for example to look for my RPM (engine speed output) wire, get the pinout number, go to my ecu, and no wire goes to there.
What does 96 look like?

If you car is US model the VIN will start with a "1" or "4".
If '94 the 10th VIN number digit will be "R"
If '95 the 10th VIN number digit will be "S"
this is true for most makes although the position of the year code for some manuf's does vary slightly.
It is good to take a code key with you when looking at used cars, dealers will sometimes bump the year forward in unscrupulous attempts to raise the value, and false VIN numbers don't fit the key sometimes.
Subaru should have been producing north american BD/BG in 10/94, as the body had been in production for other markets for a year already, and November would be way late to be making '94's.

Ohhh... Wait, I got confused.
Yours is a 95 model year car. It's a BD/BG. It was just manufactured in 1994. Okay.
I'll get you the pinout information.
The 96 ECU uses the same connector but has completely different pin specifications. I believe they stuck with more or less the same layout then for several years until the connector style changed again.

A 96 ECU won't work in a 95 car though.
Where are you getting your 95 pinouts?
Here are the pinouts from the FSM for 95:

I think I remember there being some slight errors, but I don't know for sure. When I find my researched pinouts we'll know.

Yeah this looks like it, and the pints are different to.
I was getting my points from ravensblades site. It was for a 97 Impreza 2.2L, but figured it shared the same engine it might share the same ecu.
Then to be sure, I bought an online service manual for my exact 95 Legacy, and it gave me the same pinout/diagram as ravensblade.
But this looks right thanks
Whare did you find it at?

Hm. That online service manual is flat wrong then. You should ask for your money back.
Just so I know to avoid them, who sold you the manual?
Those pinouts I posted are scanned out of a factory Subaru service manual. They're included in Mitchell's electronic service manual that many garages subscribe to.

its a one year registration for like $25. I was referred to it by a friend. I emailed them a day or two ago telling them the scan had to be wrong. I am waiting on a reply now.
Thans you for the scan. I looked at my ecu and it matched up great. My car always suprises me somehow.
