Anyone fluent in Spanish?

This is for non-Subaru related topics. Keep it realistic please.

Anyone fluent in Spanish?

Post by Legacy777 »

I got this email the other week. I don't know a lick of spanish. I've dumped it into an online translator, but it doesn't make much sense. I am assuming it is spanish.

Atte, Alejandro Medina T.

Hmmm... let's see if my translation is any better than the automated one:
My translation wrote: Gentlemen,

I have a MY 1991 Subaru Legacy 2.2 SW LS 4WD. I am having problems with the front wheel drive crown and pinion. I need a parts guide so I can identify the actual problem and figure out the solution. If you have online a map of the car, cardan (?), transmission, and front drivetrain, you would be of great help.

Hopefully you can help me.

Pardon me for writing in Spanish, but my English is poor.

I write you from Puerto Natales, Chile.

I can't tell for sure, but it sounds like he's either got a CV problem or maybe something funny going on with front his differential? Certainly a drivetrain problem, anyway. He doesn't say whether he has an auto or a manual.

Maybe pointing him to the parts scans in the Legacy Central Library and to your online repair info can help...

Sounds like he's got a question about the ring and pinion, front differential. Parts sheets are most likely what he's looking for.

Wow, how is it I've never taken spanish, but I got the idea of what he was tryna say? That's pretty cool though. Nice work Vikash. Did you translate that personally? Or did you use some kinda babel?

I just tried to remember Spanish from high school... I used to be fluent back then.

I was just guessing on some of the words though. I've never had an automotive discussion in Spanish. "Traccion delantera," if I remember correctly, literally means "forward transaction." I figure that's gotta mean "front drivetrain."
