Cleaning a K&N...
I've heard mixed feelings. Is it worth it to clean the K&N or just buy a new one?

Well, I've heard that a cleaned K&N makes it perform less than new, and possibly less than paper filters. What are you guys's thoughts on that?
The K&N oil filters look sweet. They have a wrench mount too! So you can just wrench it off if it's stuck. I'm gonna stick with the FRAM units though, I like how easily they work, although I've had a LOT of luck with the Advance Auto house-brand oil filters. They go on and come off easily, and their gaskets do not break down as much as some of the cheaper filters I've used.

Fram is bad news when it comes to oil filters. In all of my auto classes, everything I've ever heard from all 3 of my teachers has been to use NAPA Gold, they're the best for the price. They have the greatest amount of filter material. I'm currently running and OEM filter because I was too lazy to track down a NAPA when I changed my oil

Did they say why?
Scott - But my question is about the air filters. Is it true that they filter the same or less than a paper filter after they are cleaned?

I would have to say they filter more particles due to the oily substance you charge them with. Air flow would be less since you're putting liquid in the filter. The liquid is oily and you rinse it with water before you charge it. If you didn't charge it and let it dry properly then there would be more air flow but less filtration because the cotton element that makes up the filter is very porous. You can tell by looking at it that it flows better than the el cheapo paper filters.
