liquid loss in the ventilation system. Need help

Post by jpoyann »

Hello!

I´ve got a tiny refrigerating liquid loss in the ventilation system, just behind the radio cassette. It hapens when I put the hot air, and there cames out some water steam with bad scent, too, from the front and down air exhosts.
The filtration seems to come from the valve moved whe you touch the hot-cool handle command.
Any idea how to change this valve? How can I get a map of the ventilation system? Í don´t want a mecanic to touch this area.

Thanks for your help!

Per other post, let's keep this discussion here...
What do you mean by 'liquid loss'? Are your coolant levels still where they should be? Pick up a manual of some sort, and it should give you some idea of what you're getting into, as far as delving into the dash, behind 'the cassette area'.
Your heat comes from your coolant, IIRC. It goes into your heater core, which then transfers/exchanges the heat to your blower, which is then distributed by your HVAC controls. (right? anyone want to correct this?)
Do your windows (the windshield, specifically) have any kind of film on them after you've been running the heat?

I´m notified, I´ll continue the thread heare.
By 'liquide loss' I mean liquide leak. There is no any kind of film on the windshield or the windows. I know the problem is with the refrigeration liquid because it is yellow and I found liquid drops of that color on the rug. The drops came from a white plastic piece it is cleary visible from the passanger seat, down. Reading your message I think it part of the HVAC. Any idea how to get there?[/img]

It looks like where the heater core is. It is a pain to get at it....you pretty much have to remove the entire dash assembly.

What a mess. I suspected that. So do I need to buy a manual?

you may be able to plug that leak with Bar's Leaks or similar cooling system leak stopper. I usually don't recommend them but they do work very well on heater core leaks...just make sure the heat is on 100% when you put the stuff in, 2 cans consecutively

it might get you through for quite a while

I´ll try to get that product or similar here in Spain where I live. Thanks for your help. In fact I didn´t know that product exist.
