New plan for my motor

Post by 93forestpearl »

I decided that I WILL tear her all the way down and rebuild- I don't like doing shit half-assed. I've been looking at some connecting rods to start me off, either SCAT or Eagle. Any knowledge/experience with either of these? Roughly $300 for forged 4340 H-beam rods with ARP bolts seems like cheap insurance and the right thing to do while I've got it torn apart.

I just want to rebuild it and not have to worry about the bottom end EVER, up to about 400hp, even if I don't make it there for a while.

I read a post about morgie getting custom CP pistons, was he also the one that posted the pictures of them? I can't remember. I was thinking about going with those. $135 apiece sounds pretty reasonable, since I've heard they make badd ass pistons. They returned my email and said I need to go through one of their vendors though.

I was thinking about going with Cobb rod bearings. Input?

Found a site with a re-ring kit with all the seals (wouldn't be using the rings or rod bearings though) for $269. Anyone know of better?

Thats all for now, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. I'm trying to find time to get into the shop to build a stand and a pipe bender I drew up. Damn Formula SAE car takes up too much time, even though that is fun too. I just want my car to be fast. But being part of the FSAE project will help me get a job someday.
