Is the bbs dying?

This is for non-Subaru related topics. Keep it realistic please.

Is the bbs dying?

Post by Tleg93 »

Are we seeing fewer posts these days? I was wondering if anyone thought that maybe the bbs is hurting or if it's just the warm spring air.

I would say it's the warm spring air and for those that are in school like me, things are picking up and it's getting down to crunch time with tests and finals. I know I'm not on as much as I was a few weeks ago because of school. There has seemed to be a recent influx in new members asking the same questions that they should just search for. Not all newby posts are that way, but some certainly have been. I dunno, I'd still say it's the spring air and school.

New Anime coming out, warm weather, girlfriend...

...and a deal that says if I ignore my car completely (AKA reduce board access to only at school) and focus utterly on school, nabbing a B or greater in every class... I can get any wheels and tires that I want. Booyah.

I'm on vacation now, so that doesn't apply yet... so yeah. Expect me to be online less, for one.

I'd say a lot of it is that we know more.
There's no question what is involved to swap ej22->ej22t, what all the ecu codes are, what's the best suspension for the buck, what rims fit, etc etc etc. Anyone can pop on, use the search, and find what they want to know. We can credit that to the dedicated and no-shit-spouting atmosphere, i think. Also, i think when the board was created there were a lot of folk who were jumping onto the Tleg, largely to the success of the wrx. There wasn't the info available for the leg before as subaru wasn't considered a performance brand. The subaru information explosion and bbs coincided.

I don't think the board is gonna see less circulation, but i bet the flavor will change from discovery to quoting discoverers.

And there's always gonna be broken cars.

[Nerd] Actually, (pushes up glasses) it's not BBS as you first stated. BBS is an acronym for bulletin board system. Technically it should be called Legacy Central. So, really what you are asking is, "Is bulletin board system dying?" This infact is not true at all. Neeha. Neeha. [/Nerd]

I don't mind that there's less posts. Less stuff for me to read through when I visit :)

I have to agree that most of the members know enough to fix their cars and most of the topics have been covered.

I'd have to agree that the majority of stuff has been covered, and can be had with a search. Thats prob why there's less action on here. I lurked here for quite a while before actually signing up.

I know for a fact that Laurel and I have been busy with our lives, too. She started back to spring quarter, works at least 20 hours a week, and we try to keep our weekends filled with entertainment.

We're certainly not any less happy with posting and reading threads up here than in the past. :)

Yea, but it's a full course load and being a full time student with a full time, high stress job, takes a bit out of you every so often. But it's fun, and I love being busy and having responsibility at work.

I know for me it's because I'm working a lot, am working on my car all the time and my kids keep me busy as hell.

That and for some reason a lot of the recent threads just aren't grabbing me for some reason.

I'm just trying to stay quiet because eventually I end up repeating myself, and it's usually just a bitch rant anyhow. I'm actually getting tired of complaining about my life, or my car, or some other BS.. so I just watch, and gather more informative tidbits..
..That, and since I haven't been in the best of moods, I do this to avoid further alienating the rest of you..

Computer's been down for over a week due to spyware (from a song lyrics page). Reformatted the drive, but the thing wouldn't go online. Finally gave in and brought it to someone. They think it's a Microsoft issue. I'm supposed to be getting it back tomorrow and my USB might even work again, too!

As a side note, I installed the side blinkers and the guy with all the Lotuses at work is going to let me use his stuff to fix my bodywork for free. If it ever stops raining.

Hey that's awesome, steve! Side blinkers, as in the post-face sides on the pre-face body?
