I was taking my gf to get food this evening at a chinese place here in Boulder when a blue wrx with a grey wrc sticker pulls up beside me at the light. I looked over then back to the light since he wasn't in the front spot in his lane. He didn't look at me anyway. So we start and i'm doing the speed limit when they pull up about half a car length in front of me on my left side and the passenger girl rolls down her window and flips me off. Then the driver floors it right away. I was pissed. I dropped into second gear at about 40 mph and was on his ass as he got in my lane to avoid a car in his lane, then I switched to the right lane as he switched back to the far left lane to get around another car and passed him like he was standing still in third flipping him off on the way by, then switched back to the middle lane and slowed down to 20 mph in a 45 zone but he wouldn't come up along side of me. At the next light he gets behind me and turns off. What a fucking tool. It's funny because the vf-11 thats on my car at the moment hits 16 psi then drops pretty quickly to around 7 or 8 psi but the cams give it really good top end. I can't wait to get the s-afc II and new turbo installed. If I had still had the 16G it would have been really ugly for him. However not as ugly as its gonna be if I see him again and he doesn't keep his passenger's fingers in the window. His car won't be the only thing that gets owned. What a tool
This ALWAYS happens to me with people in Volkswagon's. Some fucker in a 1.8T Jetta tried to ricer flyby me, and I hit it when he was at my bumper and he never got past my bumper.
So the cam's help out a lot up top? Hmm... Looks like I'll probably just build a set of stock heads and drop a set of relatively hot cams into it. Nothing makes me happier than a hot cam and big injectors.
I can't stand the people who buy any kind of Impreza, then forget that ALL Subarus are cool, and most in the older ones consider it all one family. It's those kids that sometimes make me feel ill rolling into a Subaru crowd of oldschool rigs in my STi.

Yeah I hear you, I hate the "new to Subaru because the WRX is cool" people.
But...... I have gold STi five spokes and a BOV on my car now so I get a lot more respect from some WRX/STi types.
It was actually pretty inexpensive for the gain. I think it was about 65 dollars a cam, they were good with customer service, i got a free tshirt and they only took one day with the cams before they mailed them back. The only problem i had was they only sent 8 shims to put behind the hydraulic lifters so i had to go to the hardware store and get some more. (they were tiny washers) It was about 130 dollars total.
The passenger side cam was a pain to install but i guess if you just pulled off the uppipe on the turbo you wouldnt need to remove the head.
I have problems with people now that I put a Dynomax Bullet on my Legacy. I have no cats and the really wicked High Flow DP that Todd built for the car, so its LOUD!!! Anyway, now guys with full size trucks and Catbacks really like to play with me now. I don't even waste my time racing them because they would get eaten for lunch!
Last Sunday I was driving and a white WRX wagon goes by me and whips a 180 and rides my ass for a little while. It was starting to piss me off so I got on it from a stopsign and I think he got the message

I installed the cams with the engine in the car, It's not too bad although i did take off the passenger side head to do it. To do it with the passenger head on you might be able to just remove the uppipe and turbo. The passenger side cam comes out through the back of the head.
basicly, you pull the valve covers off, undo the undo the rocker bolts and pull the assembly off of the head. Then you have to unbolt the cam cover or w/e it is, i can't remember exactly how i did it and slide the cam out. Pull the hydraulic lifters out and put a small washer under them for reground cams then put the lifter back on. Slide the new cams into the head. Bolt everything back on then fix the timing. I left a lot out but thats basicly the idea. It takes a while. Probably a couple hrs for the first time.
What a prick, I hate guys like that, and he probably told his gf to do that, too. Good think you owned him, though. He likely didn't get pussy as a result of his ill-preparedness..
I went to Denver today to look for riced out hondas and also to pick up some paperwork for my s-afc II but couldnt find any hondas. Well i blew some intercooler piping off and I was trying to limp the car to a place to stop to fix the piping when a honda prelude comes by and reved his coffee can exhaust with the lawn mower sound at me. I was like you biatch. Kick me when i'm down. lol oh well. Sucks that was the only one too.
Yea, I often let them try to get me to go, and then finally, I'll beat them like a red headed step child, just so they will either ricer flyby me and be gone, or hang back like bitches.
I never knew Hondas had such great top end untill I started racing them. They just pull so hard on the big end and it's always just after I hit the brakes. I don't know maybe that is where the VTEC kickes in.
I had a guy in an evo8 grinning at me this morning at the 7-11 but he didn't say anything and i was on my way inside. That might have been interesting.
Stock EVO's are slow. And by slow, I mean very very fast. From a launch, I could probably get one by a car or two, but on a street-start, lag defeats me .
