i have a junked legacy with newish gr2's that i couldn't seem to keep on the road. i drove over some stuff nasty enough to break the control arm.
my question is: can one really big bump blow out a gr2 and how can i test them besides putting them on my other car and seeing how they drive?
and has anyone ever found a cheap fix for the "post gr2 sag-ass syndrome?"
how tough are gr2's

I'm in the same boat! I had a 91FWD with new GR2s, and I snapped the LCA in a nice curbmeeting.
AFAIK, they hold up pretty well. You'll see the strut's effect on its respective side of the car if it's 'blown' or inoperable. A good downward push will also give a decent status indication...
There's really no cure for the 'nose to the sky' thing after you put on new struts, except for new springs.. Sorry, you gotta take it all out again to solve it! (that's why it's best to do them both at the same time.. never worry about it again until something happens
