what powers the RS6?

Post by scottzg »

Don't ask an owner.

I was in a very very wealthy part oakland today playing hackey sack with 2 friends. An audi rs6 pulls up and the driver runs off. We're all fairly car-savvy, and proceed to argue about whether is a turbo 6 or 8. I'm sure it's a 6, and when the owner returns, we inquire. Actually, its a TWIN turbo 6, and he likes it. They only imported 1000 of them, and it totally beats m5s. Operating off it 'totally beating m5's, i rant a bit about the injustice of some guy who cares nothing about cars having a rs6, while im a total car dork with a 15 year old economy car.

So this evening, one of said friends looks it up on the net. It's a V8 :!: THAT MORON SPENT $83,000.000 ON A CAR AND DOESN'T KNOW HOW MANY SPARK PLUGS IT HAS! Why does he need a 450 horsepower car that he cares nothing about?! How does someone so stupid acquire so much money???

Tercels. Tercels for everyone.

I'm moving to a communist country.

Because he doesn't work with cars, or work on cars. He's a business man.

Yeah.... I hate, resent, and avoid those types of people.

Business man - what a productive member of society. They make the most money, therefore they must be the most productive and useful.

.........or ARE THEY?

Some people just don't care at all about their cars... It's a shame but I can't count the number of guys I've talked to about their cars and they don't know how many cylinders it even has. To each his own I guess ?:-o?

I hear ya. But yeah, just for reference, it's a twin-turbo 4.2 V8 with 450hp, and even though it is connected to a slushbox, it still runs 12's stock.

I went to a Mini meet here (old and new) and was thoroughly enjoying the day until I came across a guy who had 16" Fox Sport 2's mounted on his old Mini somehow, and a big box in the back, taking up the whole trunk and back seat. I inquired and he told me an Integra Type-R engine was shoehorned in there  So I began asking how he did it, and here's what he said:

"I have no idea, I don't know anything about what goes on in there. I just drive it."

I've seen 2 RS6s driving around. 1000 doesn't seem unreasonable, they were only available for one year in the U.S.

I'm really glad I met this guy at work who's a semi-retired millionaire who restores (mostly) Lotuses for fun and some money. The guy really knows his shit and is completely anti-elitist even though there's an uppity horse stable abutting his property. He hated the Boxster, Ferrari 308, and TT he had. Saturday he let me use his tools and showed me how to do some body work on my old POS in exchange for a case of Bud Lite (he may not have taste in beer, but it makes it cheap on my end).

As for ignorant uppity businessmen, I fantasize about the infrastructure collapsing and their useless skills doing nothing to prevent a hungry Steve from killing them for food.

I saw two audi rs6's today in Boulder, beautiful cars. I was trying to catch it at the light so i could get schooled, but there was a motorcycle in the left lane. Bestest soccer mom car eveeeeer. Too bad there was only a limited number imported to the states before emission laws changed and they couldnt import any more. Audi came out with a sweet RS4 i think just recently that's just as nice.

There was a AMG Mercedes something or another in PIR about a month or so ago. It was running 11.7's. I manage to talk to the owner for a second. I enquired which supercharger was installed on that beast. All he knew was it was "just like I bought it."

I must say I would like to have money to buy a stock vehicle that can do 11.7 and not care whats under the hood (although I would still care!).

I hate the modern HP wars. Back in the day it was a lot more difficult for any jackass to have a car that fast - you almost HAD to know about it just to keep it going.

I need 300 HP now just to keep up with SUVs (at least on paper, though damned if the dumb pricks will get out of my way).

Word. . . power/weight is the real standard. Too bad anyone with 400hp and a 6,000 lb. SUV doesn't care. . . and still drives like an a-hole.

My friend's Birkin with 240 HP built Zetec literally scared the shit out of his financial adviser. The guy actually had to run to the bathroom after a ride in the thing. That's power to weight demonstated quite nicely!
