Yes, if its just a straight or almost-straight piece of heater hose then it should be no problem to replace with a length from an auto parts store, and yes a standard screw clamp would work fine.

zuh? They do too sell 1/2" heater hose, they sell it all day down at discount auto parts and autozone - its standard crap. Thats odd that you are having trouble finding 1/2" heater hose.

I don't get why the stock hose was molded the way it was. It seems to have kinks and bends for no good reason.
