Where to get a 2.4 stroker built.

Post by subafreak »

Can any one here suggest a good place to get my 91 EJ22 block rebuilt and stroked, and give me an idea of how much the procedure ussually cost? The closer to my area the better but if I have to ship it out then I will.

Also, can the heads on our motors (91 U.S. spec EJ22T) be just as good as the DOHC heads with a little work? I like the ease of axcess to the plugs and the ease of working on them ie. pulling the head off.

Some guy over on nasioc posted about his porting and polishing findings using the SOHC EJ22T heads. He said when worked on they can flow as much as any other high performance head, but the big disapointment he found was losing the "crispness" in throttle response at or below 1/2 throttle. But full out performance was apparently really good. Guess you have to lose a bit of one quality to make up for another.

Yeah I can live with a little loss. I had to pull the heads once on a 2.5 DOHC and I'll tell ya what, you may as well just pull the motor out becouse it's the fastest way to do them. The 91 Turbo heads on the other hand can almost be pulled with out having to even remove the valve cover.
