Mashed Frame

Post by 92BlackBeauty »

So I smashed up the front corner of my 92 SS and was wondering how hard it will be to cut the frame and bend it?
My right front fender is smashed, and it bent the frame that holds the hood and hood latch down.
This frame seems to be welded to the actual frame of the car, so it will most likely involve cutting/grinding.
Has anyone experienced this? How hard was it to fix?

Drill it out at the spot welds, get a new pice and reweld as original. That's how they do new car damages when the insurance foots the bill.

If they use the original locations for the spot welds and want the car to look stock, they won't bondo them. They even have spot welding 'dent' tools to replicate factory spot welds for anal restoration jobs. I personally, want seam welding.

Wow, that's exactly what happened to my car.
Anyone have an idea how much this would cost at a body shop?

if you go to any body shop, they can pull up the part (front raditor core support) and it will give the bodyman an estimate for hours, and thye generally charge 45 an hour. for my wreck, just the lower center radiator support is 2 hours labor, so 90 bucks to put in the new piece. not that bad. Yours will be more cause it is the whole support not just lower center.
