Being a packrat can really pay off sometimes!

I cleaned my K&N air filter today and it wasn't dry (after washing with water) when it was time for me to go to work and I was running late. I started to panick but then I remembered that I actually kept my old, dirty paper filter back when I first put in the K&N. I went and found the K&N box, opened it up woohooo, there's an old paper filter! Slapped that old piece of crap in and away I went to work, wasn't even late either.

Oh, I thought I was going to need to try and hunt down new 3" exhaust gaskets too but while looking for the filter I found an extra set that MSR/CES must have sent me a while back and I forgot about. Hehehe.

I save everything... and it saves my ass all the time. Its something I learned when I was poor... oh wait, I'm still poor.

I kept my old steelies when I had put the Rotas on my car, just in case. Later, when I decided to un-mod the car and take the wheels off and sell them, I was glad I still had my steelies with tires on them :)

I've got a pretty good one.

When I got my car back in 95, the radiator hoses were replaced, and they put the old ones in the tray in the trunk.

Well the day of the 4th of july subaru cruise, one of the guys from dallas who has an STi engine in is 2000 RS had a leak in his upper radiator hose. We went to all the car parts stores around, none had a hose. We got a generic one, it didn't work.

Then I remembered I had these hoses in my trunk. Yanked it out, and low and behold with a little trimming, it fits like a glove. As far as I know he's still running that hose.....which a little over 10 years old.....hahaha

it was in pretty decent shape though.

I can't tell you how many screws, bolts, nuts, belts, bulbs and misc parts have saved my ass.

I wish I could maintain my packratting ways but I need to clean out the garage soon.

Don't get me wrong... most of the parts saved my ass. My brand new alt kicked the bucket but I remembered that I had kept one off a parts car.

I also had to salvage a relay for the A/C.

I even have a complete exhaust system from a BJ standing up in the corner of my garage.

Two engines, one turbo crossmember in kitchen. Extra turbo and several boxes of parts on table. Full exhaust, rear end, suspension, interior panels, taillights, boxes of misc. from turbo legacy, 8-spoke alloys from a 1984 GL in adjacent spare room. Velour GL front seats and full seating from a turbo Legacy in living room.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

I'd give my left nut for that turbo seating!!!

I have a N/A (fuly loaded) crossmember sitting on a fence panel in my driveway and a set of OEM 90 Steels sitting next to it.

We should make this a " what would code enforcement say" thread.....or just make a new thread. Sorry to jack the thread. Back to our scheduled thread.

Umm, interesting dining room set. So when you eat dinner, is it just like going through the drive-thru?

That would be awesome if someone made a running, driving legacy (probably a wagon into a converted Dining room...Monster garage style. The roof and sides split in half to become a dining room set, complete with a chandeleer.

I kept a tube of suspension lube from a urethane bushing install 2.5 years ago, this helped greatly to quiet my roommates wrx wagon's clunky endlinks
