That's so dumb.

If it took him so long to find it, why is he selling it?
Didn't look like it was totalled, probably fixable.

look at the mileage....if it was beaten on (not just by the criminal) it probably needs a rebuild. They're just using the publicity to sell it, I think.

Mark - What makes you say that? 150k is nothing on a Subaru. I just bought a Forester with 134k, without batting an eye.

SVX has a history of burning oil, and its generally less regarded as holding up a long time. If it is well taken care of, then maybe it will go 200k easy, but I'm suspecting that this one wasn't (even before the burglar got ahold of it).

An SVX is a Subaru, 150k IS nothing for any Subaru. Yes it has its fair share of problems, but what car doesn't? Any 2.5 is liable for headgaskets, any 91-94 turbo is liable for coolant tank, and any subaru anywhere is laible for wheel bearings. Show me one subaru that doesn't have a history of leaking oil. Yes SVX's leak more, but not nearly as much as the new 6 cylinders. This guys car was immaculate. You can't own an SVX for three years if it's in shitty condition. So much jumping to conclsions, read the backstory before you talk a bunch of mess: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showpos ... tcount=105

I've never leaked oil, or burned it for that matter. Or had wheel bearing problems. Hurrah for PhaseII EJ22s :D

I was mainly thinking of the oil leaking problem, which isn't a big deal if you keep track of your levels, I guess. I came down too hard on it, I guess :?

I'd buy it, probably :) (if I had money)

I don't believe you. The airbox, power steering, and quite a few other things are different. I got the manifold cover off an old Gen1 Legacy.

The airbox, power steering, and those other things don't make the engine a Phase II. I can look at that pic and tell without a doubt that is a Phase I engine (assuming it's an original engine). The heads are still the Phase I design. Also, Phase II engines didn't exist until 1999.

So ... You do have a Phase I EJ22!!

Weird, they made a PhaseII EJ22 engine in '99? I thought they discontinued it then :?

I just thought it was PhaseII because it went to OBDII and a lot of other stuff...
So was 95 like another facelift sort of? I know some things changed (ECU & wiring, I believe).

Also, should we have a moderator make this a different topic?
