There's a reason they call us "Pensyltucky" or "Philabama" or something like that.

Ha! Want to hear the funniest thing ever? Fodor's listed Baltimore as one of the top 10 best places to visit in the WORLD. Forget the ancient capital of the roman empire, forget about the capital of the US, wouldn't you rather hit the Murder Capital AND Hepatitus Capital all in one trip?

Yeah, I actually like it. It's got cool museums and shops in the neighborhoods around the harbor... but I don't think it is quite up there yet.

Nobody who lives here has any clue what Fodors is smoking, but we'd like them to send some of it over, because Charm City has smoked all of its crack rocks.

Phil, why do you think Gaithersburg deserves to be up there?

I'm not disagreeing at all, just sparking discussion.

Why? Because I live here.

Really? It's a small town in a big city. Diverse culture, without high crime rates. No real "bad part of town". Lots of money in certain areas, and overall a nice place to live. It's a place where you can ask someone what time it is, and they won't shoot you, try to rape you, or ignore you.

Oh, and because we get the benefits of all the areas around us, without actually having to deal with the problems associated with those places.

In short, all of the places in this area are mostly places that'd be great to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there.

Gaithersburg is the place to live when you want to visit the places around here. DC, Baltimore, NOVA, Bethesda, Potomac, Rockville, Germantown. All places that are great to visit, but you gotta live somewhere.
