Performance Clutch

Post by FrmRgz2Rchz »

I recently purchased an aftermarket race clutch for my Turbo Suby. I decided to go with ACT, because I have heard good things about them. When I got the kit, the box said it was for the 02+ WRX. At first we thought they made a mistake and started to get a bit upset, but we called them, and they said they no longer carry the turbo legacy specific clutch kit, but the WRX will fit. Sure enough, it did. Now the question, is this just the ACT clutch for WRXs that will fit, or any kit for the WRX? Just thought I'd try to give people a few more options when going to get a clutch.

The WRX and Turbo trans are of the same design, so the flywheels, pressure plates and clutches for the WRX will fit the Turbo, no problem.

I have an STI Group N clutch and non-US WRX PP on mine, with an Exedy flywheel. Very fun.

The performance shop around the corner from me said that the WRX clutch assembly was 5mm larger in diameter... So it still has no problem fitting? I'm about to do this and I don't want my car stuck on the rack because the WRX one won't fit...

Also, ACT seems to be behind in production... anyone know a place that would have this clutch in stock? Also, any ideas for a flywheel? It looks like I can get one for $299 (don't know the weight, though). I'm shooting for 12-14 lbs, preferably towards 14.

Give Richard Buckner a call, or email him:

I purchased my PP and Clutch from him, and he seems to be one of the most knowledgeable persons around, mile hi included, about the differences between the models.
