Bad tranny noise

Over the last couple of days, my gear whine has turned into a grinding-like noise. It sounds like two dry gears with a lot of slack in between each other. I checked the fluid and topped it off, and the noise is only there under part throttle, just like the whine. Is this it for this trans? I wouldn't be surprised, after all it does have 425K miles on it, and a locked up center diff. Anything I can do, or has it run its course?

Well, somethng in there ate it. Just had it towed back, it still moves a little but the front diff is most likely gone.
